Homemade Nutella
This is a very easy spread to make and it is a good substitution for nutella. However, I must admit that it doesn't taste exactly the same, so don't expect a perfect imitation.
1 cup roasted hazelnuts
4 Tbs cocoa powder
6 Tbs maple syrup
1 Tbs. vanilla extract
Roast whole hazelnuts at 350F for 10 minutes. Let them cool, then rub off as much of the skins as you can. Grind nuts in a food processor until they form a paste. Add the other ingredients and process until smooth.
Put it into a container and refrigerate.
I personally think that the best way to eat this is on a nice warm homemade croissant like these, some of which I froze and can take out and eat with homemade nutella even now!
