Thanksgiving
Yes, it is well past Thanksgiving. But I wanted to share two parts of the Thanksgiving feast I participated in. First, I made my mom's wonderful pumpkin pie. But I used pureed kabocha squash grown on the farm in place of the pumpkin puree. It is so interesting how you can substitute different kinds of squash for pumpkin in recipes and still have it end up tasting basically the same!
Additionally, after months of running around in green grass, our happy pastured turkeys gave their lives for the happiness of many people around town, including farm people.
We enjoyed a farm Thanksgiving dinner and made pretty good work of a farm turkey.
