Homemade roasted maize
I know how I have been complaining and being sad about not having those Michigan spring fruits and vegetables I am used to. However, the lack is made up for by maize from our garden which we started eating in May!
First of all, it is amazing to have enough space to grow my own maize. But it is even more fun to eat it, especially as roasted maize. We built a separate fire pit (only for wood, not all the plastic trash we burn) where we have been roasting maize from the garden.
It is rather hard to describe the taste, but we roast it when it is more mature than the sweet corn that we would eat on the cob in the US.

Wow! That looks wonderful! We will try roasting some Michigan corn when you come home in August:) Love, Mom
