Scary Blue Muffins

In hopes of having a blueberry substitute here in Uganda, I planted garden huckleberries, since they supposedly (when cooked properly) can make a nice imitation blueberry pie and all sorts of other fun blueberry treats.  Well, I was not impressed.  I got huge yields, but even after cooking them and pouring off the water several times and adding lots of sugar, I got a stomachache after eating very many... 

I used them to make blueberry muffins, which didn't give me any problems, but they also did not taste that much like blueberries and the muffins turned a scary blue color.

In the end, I decided they were very much not worth it and tore up all the plants in my garden to make room for other vegetables.
