Christmas Baking

So I found this link to make salt water taffy - super easy recipe! And I was excited because I thought it would make a good gift for my mom since she loves taffy (I'd enjoy it too). Unfortunately, it was apparently not so easy for me. It was stretching happily along when all of a sudden (as I was getting sweaty and blisters all over my hands), the "taffy" started getting hard. I frantically tried to salvage it by breaking it into manageable pieces and semi-candy cane shapes. Anyway, I ended up with peppermint hard candy rather than taffy. Tasty, but very unexpected.
