True Yams
Finally I have seen and touched a real yam (though I haven't tasted one...yet)
When we were visiting Sironko, I saw these interesting vines with berries on them climbing up a tree. They looked rather like grapes. When I asked what they were, I learned that they were yams and the family brought one out for me to look at. They told me this is a small one. And so, THIS is a yam. A sweet potato is not a yam, the "yams" - taro that grow here are not yams, but this really is a yam. Maybe someday I will actually eat one too. When I do, you can be sure I will inform you.
